Congratulations to our U14B team!
The 2nd-seeded U14B NRI Vikings claimed victory over the Newport Whalers Sunday in an overtime shootout. The exciting event started strong with a scoreless 1st period. The battle continued into the 2nd, where the Whalers jumped ahead with a 2-goal lead. But the Vikings rallied to come from behind and scored their first goal by the end of the period. Halfway the 3rd, the Vikings gained strength to tie, where the score would stand at the end of the regulation game.
The challenge for the title resumed in a 3 on 3 skirmish lasting 5 minutes, with neither team able to take the win.
As blood pressures rose in the parents and family watching, the Vikings scored with their first attempt in a best out of 5 shootout. 3 shooters and a brick wall of a goalie eventually led the Vikings to victory against the Whalers in a thrilling shootout win!
